Previous Staff Member of the Month: Courtney Paulos
Who she is:
Courtney Paulos,
Multimedia Design Instructor and lead web designer/creator of the Oroville Adult Ed. website.
What she does:
Courtney is a graphic/web designer, front-end web developer and Flash designer with over seven years of professional experience in the design industry.
Tell us about your family:
I was married to my high school sweetheart on August 16, 2008 after dating for twelve years. No kids, but maybe one day.
Where did you attend school?
I graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1999, attended Butte College and went on to graduate from Chico State in 2005.
Where were you raised?
I was born in southern california and grew up in Chico, California.
Tell us about your pets:
I have a dog, her name is Shelly (a.k.a. Ba-dogga-dunk). I was told when buying her that she was only supposed to grow to33lbs... well, she's now 85lbs. I have two cats, Annabel and Cassie (a.k.a. Franken-Spewy). Cassie has always had a sensitive stomach and usually can't keep her food down; hence her nickname. I also have a dwarf hamster named Charlie and a large 55-gallon saltwater reef tank with three beautiful, over-fed fish.
What is the worst job you've ever had?
Cashiering wasn't very fun.
What is your favorite food?
Sushi and all kinds of Greek food.
What is your favorite movie?
I collect classic movies. My favorites are the "Road To..." Series with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, also "Some Like it Hot" and "Doctor Zhivago" (an all-time classic).
What kind of music do you like?
I like everything. Most of the time, I listen to Jazz.
What do you do in your spare time?
Along with teaching Multimedia Design, I own a computer repair business in Chico, and tutor high school mathematics; but when I do have spare time, I love to cook and create all types of computer graphics. I have a passion for design in all mediums, from print to web; My husband is a computer graphics programmer and front/back-end web developer. Together, we've designed many websites and to me there is no greater thrill than seeing our final design and development finally go live on the internet for the whole world to see.
Describe your perfect day:
Me, my hubby and my dog, sittin' on a warm beach somewhere...just chillin'
What do you like most about your job?
Where do I begin! Oroville Adult Education is a great campus with hard working students and dedicated staff. I love the hands-on, action based nature of my course. My students are given the freedom and flexibility to be creative when developing their works of art; and having that freedom and flexibility lends to their creation of beautiful, stunning works of art.
Tell us something about yourself that we may not know:
I have a twelve-year old sister who enjoys Classic films as much as I do. She's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to knowing everything there is to know about the old stars of the 30's and 40's.
