Daily Updates
For the most up-to-date class information.

Fees for classes
Some classes are state mandated. There is no charge for adults to attend the following classes:

  • High School diploma

  • GED preparation

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE)

  • Qualified high school students currently enrolled in a secondary school can attend certain academic classes if they are referred by a counselor and have parental approval

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)

  • Citizenship

  • Programs for Disabled adults by referral

Regular classes are eligible for state funding and are, therefore, offered at greatly reduced fees. In some cases a material or lab fee is charged to cover the course expenses. Some classes require a book purchase.

Community Education classes are fee-based and are provided in the public interest. These fees are kept as minimal as possible to keep classes affordable. These classes receive no state funding and fees must pay for instructor, facility, and all related expenses.

Book Deposits
Some classes require a book deposit of $25 which is refunded by check when the books are returned. Students are responsible for the full cost of lost or damaged books. There must be a written request for a refund within 90 days after the student completes the class, graduates, or withdraws.

Returned checks
OAECTC will accept a personal check with an ID card. There is a $25 charge on any returned check. Failure to pay this fee will result in the matter being turned over to the District Attorney Check Fraud Division.

Credits
Credits earned apply to OUHSD diploma requirements and may or may not be transferable to other agencies.

Refund Policy
Choose your classes carefully. Refunds will be made only when a class is full or is canceled due to low enrollment. (Please be careful with textbooks as we cannot refund a used book. If a book is accompanied by software, the book will be considered used if the software seal is broken.)

Sorry, no other refunds or transfer of fees will be issued for any reason.
